Big Cottonwood Retrievers is located between the sleepy little village of Lewellen Nebraska and the sandy beaches of Lake McConaughy. We are in the heart of the Central Flyway and live just a few wing beats from the infamous North Platte River. Whether you're looking for a new family member, hunting companion or competitor, you've come to the right place.
We believe that Labrador Retrievers come in three colors! Black, Yellow and Chocolate. We would never knowingly place one of our puppies in a Dilute home!
Before we decide to breed any of our girls they must measure up to our standards and the practices and standards that promote to the betterment of the breed. Everyone of our girls will be tested and be screened for common hereditary issues. In addition, we only breed to Sires that we can verify are free of undesirable traits including but not limited to Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC) and Centro Nuclear Myopathy (CNM). We also screen hips, elbows and eyes and register the results with OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals). We take into account breed standards, accomplishments, attitude, intelligence, trainability, style and desire. We receive requests to breed our Girls frequently and on occasion a Suiter will measure up to our requirements. Titles are a major factor in consideration!
